Top Customers Summary
Top Customers Summary
Overview
This widgets displays the customers you've been invoicing the most over a period of time, sorted in a pie chart.
The name of the customers with corresponding invoiced amounts are shown in a tooltip when you hover-over the chart.
Calculation
Only the invoices at statuses PAID, SUBMITTED, AUTHORISED or DRAFT are going to be taken into account. The voided invoices are going to be ignored.
Settings
In the settings section (top-right cogwheel), you can chose how many customers or what percentage of your total sales are to be displayed on the chart.
In the opposite example, only the top 9 customers are going to be displayed on the chart. All the sales to other customers are going to be wrapped into the "Others" section of the chart (red area).
The time range to be taken into account can also be changed in the settings section.
Verify it in Impac! (All Invoices widget)
The All Invoices widget can be used to verify which invoices stand behind the figures displayed in the pie chart.
In this widget, the customers will be listed in the same order as in the Top Customers Summary pie chart. By hovering over the customer name, you will be able to display the full list of invoices issued to the corresponding customer.
See it in Xero
It is a bit fastidious to find an equivalent report in Xero. The Income per contact report doesn't fit as it does not take the draft invoices into account.
A list of invoices can be displayed using the Customer Invoice Report: Menu > Reports > All Reports > Customer Invoice Reports.
Select the appropriate time range and sort the report by Contact:
Noticeable differences with the Impac! widget
The Impac! widget sums the invoices and directly displays the top customers in a chart. Using the Xero report, the calculation has to be done manually by adding up all the invoiced amounts for each customer.
The Credit Notes are not taken into account in the Impac! report.
See it in QuickBooks
The Sales By Customers Summary report can be used: Reports > All Reports > Review Sales > Sales By Customer Summary.
Make sure to select the same time range as per the widget:
Noticeable differences with the Impac! widget
Only the PAID invoices are taken into account in QuickBooks. The draft invoices and invoices awaiting payment have to be added to the totals per customer. To that end, the invoices list can be retrieved in QuickBooks using: Transactions > Sales.
