Sales Comparison

TESTED

Overview

This widget allows you to compare your sales by product, or by customer name, industry or location.

The left panel displays a list of entries based on the chosen comparison criteria (customers, products, locations...). By clicking an entry, the corresponding sales history is displayed on a line chart in the right panel. Selecting several entries (as per opposite example) lets you compare the corresponding sales history over the selected period of time.

The total sales for the period and for each entry is displayed in the right column of the left panel, and in the chart's legend.

Calculation

Only the AUTHORISED, SUBMITTED, or PAID invoices and the AUTHORISED, APPLIED, or PAID credit notes are going to be taken into account. The DRAFT or VOIDED invoices or credit notes are ignored.

The total sales are calculated as followed:

(over a selected period) → total sales = total invoiced - total credited

Settings

The comparison criteria can be changed on the top-left of the widget as well as the value displayed (value sold including or excluding taxes, or quantity sold).

The entries to be displayed on the chart can be selected from the widget's left panel.

The time period can be changed in the settings section (top-right cogwheel).

See it in Xero

There is no "Sales history" report in Xero by the time this article is written. The only way to reconcile the data shown in Impac! is to retrieve the invoices list and to add up the invoices and credit notes that match the calculation criteria (selected time period and statuses to take into account).

To retrieve the invoices list: Accounts > Sales > See all. The easiest way then would be to export the invoices list as a CSV and to add filter them using Excel.

See it in QuickBooks

Same thing in QuickBooks: the only way to reconcile the sales history is to retrieve the list of all invoices and credit notes at correct status, and to sum them.

To retrieve the invoices list: Transactions > Sales. Then, filter the invoices according to the calculation criteria explained above, and click the "Export to Excel" button on the top-right of the table.
